[Highland Park] Off the Floor organization question
Hi All, A while back there was a post from someone who was associated with an organization called "Off the Floor." They collect household goods for people who have shelter but little else. I have some boxes of miscellaneous stuff -- small lamps, fans, clocks, you name it -- that I would like to donate to them or some other similar organization. Does anyone have info on who I can get in touch with? lori
Worth reprinting the original notice! The pick-ups are usually scheduled on weekends, and there ARE pick-up teams in the Highland Park area. But call and leave your information -- you'll be called back fairly quickly. Kim V. Off the Floor Pittsburgh - Help them help others! Or if YOU need help, call them! There is a great volunteer organization in Pittsburgh called Off the Floor Pittsburgh. It is dedicated to eradicating poverty in the Pittsburgh area by providing the most basic needs of beds, tables, chairs and kitchen utensils to families who are literally eating and sleeping on the floor. County and private agencies serving the poorest families are referring clients to Off the Floor Pittsburgh. In two years, almost sixty families have been helped - and more than seventy individuals or families have contributed used furniture, money or time to support this ministry. Off the Floor Pittsburgh is not yet a 501c non-profit organization. But it is managed by the Mt. Lebanon Presbyterian Church, which is able to provide letters verifying that items have been contributed. You will need to estimate the value of the items contributed yourself. Off the Floor Pittsburgh organizes convenient pickups and deliveries to the families. Two local storage spaces have been contributed to hold donated items. If you can contribute items on the list, please call 412 531-6227 ext. 220 and leave your name and phone number on the answering machine. A volunteer will call you for further information. If you have time or money to support this organization, we would be grateful for that as well.
