Dear friends and neighbors, Neighbors in Need, a program administered by Bloomfield Garfield Corporation, is looking for your help. Last year Neighbors in Need sponsored two students to take SAT Prep classes through Pittsburgh Prep. Both of these students improved their scores by more than 250 points, with Scholar Nic Jedema earning a near perfect score and subsequently receiving a merit scholarship to Cornell University. This year we would like to help 10 students see these kinds of results! So how can you help? 1. Please direct any rising junior or senior who you believe merits consideration for an SAT Prep scholarship to www..org so they can apply. Scholarships will be based on financial need and merit. Time is of the essence. 2. Pittsburgh Prep has agreed to waive large portions of the fees for Neighbors in Needs Scholars, but we still need to raise $5,000 in order pay for the tutoring. For many of these students, a higher score on their SATs may be the push they need to earn admission into an excellent school and break the cycle of poverty. “I just get tears when I think about it.
