[Highland Park] Help Donate School Supplies for East Liberty Youth
Hi Neighbors! I am currently working with a church in East Liberty to organize a "Back to School Block Party" for the newly reopened PGH Obama School (formerly Peabody High) youth. I've included an announcement about the event at the end of this email. We are still in need of school supply donations to be handed out at the event. If anyone is interested in donating to a great cause, please email me and i can pick up the supplies at your convenience! Supplies needed: school binders bookbags combination locks folders pens/pencils notebooks etc. Also, we are also seeking food donations (hot dogs, chips, cookies, water). If you would like to help in ANY WAY for this event, please let me know!! Thanks so much Crossroads Church is excited to announce the upcoming Back to School Block Party scheduled for Saturday, September 8, 2012, Time: 1-5pm. The day will consist of family fun and entertainment, including bands, a DJ, carnival games, and food but ALSO serve as a "resource fair" for families to learn about available resources in the East Liberty community, including Energy Assistance, Job Training, Health Screenings, Health Care information, etc. We will also be giving out school supplies to children and youth for their upcoming school year. Our vision is for the block party to be an community event, rich with non-profits, churches, businesses, and social services. -- Leah Jo Marmo, MSW "Don't ask yourself what the world needs.
