[Highland Park] Break in/Robbery
Neighbors, We wanted to alert you to a break in we had this morning between 10 and 11. After I left the house a young man proceeded to enter our house through the back door and walked around our house and stole various items before my husband who was upstairs heard something and went down. He came downstairs just in time to see the intruder leaving through the back door. Just want to remind everyone to keep your doors locked and keep an eye out for unusual behavior. We reported the incident to the police. It seemed that the intruder knew that I had left and was not deterred by our 100 pound dog. Kim and Chris Jackson St.
Here is an update to the information... We have very good reason to believe this person returned to our home last night between 12:30 and 5:00 AM and tried unsuccessfully to use the house keys he stole on his first visit. I have notified the police of this incident as well. Additionally, I (Chris) saw a young man 1-2 hours after the initial break in who I thought resembled the guy who I saw leaving through our back door while I was on the way to Home Depot for new locks and managed to get video of him. Earlier today I showed that video to another neighbor who got a very good look at him prior to the initial break in at our home and they confirmed it was the young man seen in the area. So please be on the lookout for a light skinned, 5'6" - 5'8", possibly Hispanic, male, age 16-18 with dark hair, lighter colored eyes (possibly blue), sideburns neatly cropped to about 1/4 inch above the bottom of his ear lobes. The day of the break in he was wearing a black knit winter hat, light gray unzipped hoodie, light colored t-shirt, black baggy pants and black and white sneakers. Police suggested that I forward this description to our neighbors and asked that if he is seen in back or side yards to call 911 immediately and give a description of his clothing and location. Judging by the location where I took the video and the direction that he was traveling he lives in this vicinity. We really appreciate having had such a watchful neighborhood to live in and hope this helps keep it safe. Kim Rak wrote:
