"Walk on By" @ The East Liberty Library
"Walk On By" Artist Reception Friday, January 25th 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Meet the artists! Walk on By is a multi-disciplinary art experience that highlights the lives of homeless men and women in the Pittsburgh community and sparks dialogue about the issues surrounding homelessness. Walk on By is made possible through Future Tenant’s Trespass Artist Residency program and a donation from the SPROUT Fund. It is also supported by local programs that serve the needs of the local homeless community including The Homeless Advisory Board, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, Community Human Services, the Homeless Children’s Education Fund, and Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania. The Artist Reception for the "Walk On By" art show will be on Friday, Jan 25th from 3 - 4:30 PM at the East Liberty Library, main floor, 130 S Whitfield St 15206. The mission of "Walk on By" is to encourage interactions between the housed and the people sitting on street corners--whom they “Walk on By.” Join us for light refreshments, an art show scavenger hunt and crafts as well as a chance to talk to some of the artists featured in the show. "Walk on By" has traveled to over a dozen area libraries in the past two years. Local artists, housed and homeless, contributed works in a variety of media expressing their understanding and concern for the homeless in our region.
