[Highland Park] Thanks for response to Sen. Ferlo!
Hello Highland Park Neighbors! Thanks to all of you who have sent letters to Senator Ferlo regarding the denial of transfer of liquor license for Sandy's Deli. Keep 'em coming, it's not too late. A sign on Sandy's says he will reopen after "remolding" so let's keep the pressure on. Senator Ferlo is in support of us...actually he's glad we are now in support of his point of view!! So, let's make this happen and make our neighborhood even better! Thanks! Shelly
One question I have, and I am not at all well-versed in economics so pls forgive my ignorance, is what other, less-offensive prospects exist for that building if the store is shut down? It seems like that would result in another abandoned property which (having one adjacent to my own home) really isn't a good thing. Are there any likely buyers for a liquor-free store or other business in that location? I have stopped in there once or twice while out walking with my kids, to buy a round of grape pop and chocolate milk ;) It's near my home, and as such could be handy for us. I can't say I'd frequent it under any management, though, just because it's hard to navigate the door/step with a stroller and young child, especially with all the loitering in the doorway. -----Original Message----- From: neighborhood-bounces@highlandpark.pgh.pa.us [mailto:neighborhood-bounces@highlandpark.pgh.pa.us] On Behalf Of Shelly Danko+Day Sent: Wednesday, January 04, 2006 6:24 PM To: HighlandPark Listserve Subject: [Highland Park] Thanks for response to Sen. I'm a bit confused about why we should write to Senator Ferlo. Is there something illegal going on at this store, like selling alcohol to minors? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shelly Danko+Day" <shellydankoday@yahoo.com> To: "HighlandPark Listserve" <neighborhood@highlandpark.pgh.pa.us> Sent: Wednesday, January 04, 2006 6:24 PM Subject: [Highland Park] Thanks for response to Sen.
