[Highland Park] tree taken for aggressive root system
At the suggestion of frenchjap@comcast.net, who gave me the direct phone number, I called the city's Forestry Dept. The man I spoke to there said the tree was taken down because it had an aggressive root system that had raised the sidewalk, causing a tripping hazard. Deb Polk
That is a stupid shame. If they take down all the trees that make a sidewalk lumpy they'll be taking down half of the trees in the city. I know the city hired a new forrestry coordinator - the Post Gazette recently did articles about. I wish the HPCC would require her to notify them anytime they plan to do anything to any tree in HP. I thought Dana Thomas was coordinating tree issues for HP, but I'm not sure. Certain streets in HP are void of trees or have very few. The nicest streets in the city generally have the best and most trees. -----Original Message----- From: neighborhood-bounces@highlandparkpa.com [mailto:neighborhood-bounces@highlandparkpa.com] On Behalf Of Deb Polk Sent: Friday, July 11, 2008 11:24 AM To: neighborhood@highlandparkpa.com Subject: [Highland Park] tree taken for aggressive root system At the suggestion of frenchjap@comcast.net, who gave me the direct phone number, I called the city's Forestry Dept.
