[Highland Park] Pittsburgh Urban Christian School -Admissions Open House for the interested and curious
Hi Neighbors, If you don know about Pittsburgh Urban Christian School (PUCS) you are missing out on one of Pittsburgh's great assets. For over 30 years, PUCS has provided a well-rounded private education for a racially and economically diverse group of children in an urban setting. Each year, student enrollment continues to grow and thanks to fund raising efforts and EITC donations, we continue to offer tuition scholarship to approximately half of the student body. PUCs offers small class size, character formation, great academics, and low tuition and scholarships. PUCS has dedicated and excellent teachers and creates exceptional educational experiences for students on a regular basis. All four of my children have attended PUCs and *if you have never seen a group of middle school students cry because they never want to leave middle school* then you haven't seen what is possible with fabulous teachers, rigorous curriculum, and loads of parent and family involvement! Just a few examples: The 4/5 grade trip to Gettysburg, where 9 and 10 year olds lead a powerful memorial service for Pittsburgh civil war soldiers killed in the battle. The Trash-a-Thon, the annual fundraiser in partnership with Wilkinsburg and Nine Mile Run, where students find sponsors for a 1 day clean-up of Wilkinsburg. The all school unit that culminates in March with a student musical production created by the students and talented adult helpers. And the school garden where students have created a rain garden, maintain classroom worm bins, and grow veggies for their classes. The school is located at 809 Center Street in Wilkinsburg http://www.pucs.org/. In addition, PUCS recently received accreditation with the National Education Association, *Schools That Can.*<http://www.schoolsthatcan.org/>They are a national nonprofit network of high-performing, independent charter schools. Their mission is to make high-quality educational experiences accessible to all children. Admissions Open House October 11th at 7pm* * *Please come and see the difference of a PUCs K-8 education*
