[Highland Park] September 11 Observance
This Sunday's tenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks will be observed at St. Andrew's in Highland Park, Pittsburgh, in a time of silent prayer and reflection as the Great Bell is tolled for 5 minutes beginning at 8:46 a.m.--the time the first plane struck the World Trade Center. Members and friends are invited to gather in front of the doors on Hampton Street (or inside, in inclement weather). Prayers observing the anniversary will be offered during the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services this Sunday as well. Those of us of the parish, neighborhood, and wider community are invited as well to gather at Rodef Shalom Congregation, 4905 Fifth Avenue, in the Oakland neighborhood, for an interfaith service of "Memory and Hope" sponsored by the Religious Leadership Forum of Southwest Pennsylvania and the Christian Associates of Southwest Pennsylvania. We of St. Andrew's would note that our bishop, the Rt. Rev. Kenneth L. Price, Jr., will participate in this service. We are told that "the service is intended to celebrate the bonds among local Christian, Islamic, and Jewish faith communities." http://www.standrewspgh.org http://revbmrobison.blogspot.com/
