It's August again in Highland Park--and that means the return of the Reservoir of Jazz concert series featuring free music in the park each Sunday in August and the first Sunday in September: August 6 - Jimmy Ponder August 13 - Pittsburgh Jazz Legacy Project August 20 - Kenia August 27 - Michele Bensen September 3 - Nelson Harrison Quintet Each concert is listed on the calendar at <http://www.highlandparkpa.com/event>. Each concert is held at Evergreen Grove in Highland Park (near the entrance to the park at North Highland Avenue). Bring a blanket or folding camping chairs to sit on. Please park responsibly and only where permitted--parking is not allowed on any lawn areas of the park. Also, please avoid parking in front of driveways of homes near the park. (These have both been common problems in past years, unfortunately.) Contact Ethan Winograd for volunteer opportunities <http://www.highlandpark.pgh.pa.us/pipermail/neighborhood/2006-July/002019.html>. Free event sponsored by Highland Park Community Club, State Representative Joe Preston, Mellon Jazz, DUQ 90.5 FM, New Pittsburgh Courier, and Aunt Cheryl's Catering. <http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/parks/html/reservoir_of_jazz.html>
Hi everyone - just wanted to add that the times for the shows are always 5pm - 7pm. It looks like September 3 is the date we most need a few volunteers to help with the children's activities. Please drop me a line if you would like participate. thanks! Ethan
