[Highland Park] Lecture Series at the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh, #2
Lecture Series at the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh with Jack Petrash Walking the Fine Line Friday, May 13, 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. Lecture cost: $10.00 Parents today have chosen a tough assignment. We live in a complex, rapidly changing world with an assortment of demands and responsibilities. Among these are the complexities of parenting. Raising children can often leave us feeling bewildered and beleaguered, especially when the very parenting approaches that worked at one time with our children prove ineffective, even detrimental, as they grow older. As parents we should find some solace in the fact that this is as it should be. Parenting is demanding work filled with paradox and contradiction. This talk, Walking the Fine Line, will explore some of the essential parenting polarities to help us to maintain a balanced approach to parenting amidst the challenges of contemporary society, and make our parenting experience rewarding and deeply meaningful. Navigating the Terrain of Childhood Saturday, May 14, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Workshop cost: $25.00 A parent's journey through childhood will inevitably be filled with both precious moments and difficult situations. These unavoidable challenges will test us in ways that will either consume us or refine us, if we can see these events in advance. This workshop is designed to help parents understand and anticipate the developmental terrain of childhood and see that we all make a similar journey, one that can be precarious, challenging, and yet, strikingly beautiful. * * * Jack Petrash has been a teacher for over thirty years, much of that time at the Washington Waldorf School where he has taken three classes from Grade 1 to Grade 8.
