[Highland Park] News from the walkers!
This didn't appear to go through the first time, so I'm sending it again. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Neighbors! Sara and I were happy to meet many of you at the annual yard sale last month. Many of you asked that we keep you posted on our progress for the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk. So, here's an update! For those of you who we didn't meet, my best friend Sara and I will be walking 60 miles over the course of three days in Boston August 4th through the 6th for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, sleeping in tents along the way. As part of the process, we have committed to raising $4400 to support the foundation. So far, we have raised $1965 by holding a benefit Latin Night at Ibiza Restaurant in the South Side, donating all of our sales proceeds from the yard sale, and collecting donations from friends and family. We're almost half way there, but we have less than a month now to raise the rest of the money. So, we're turning to the community and asking for your support. If you or your business would like to make a donation, you can go to www.the3day.org/Boston06/teamtia and click on either one of the team members' names and make a donation on our personal pages. Any business donations we receive of $250 or more will receive a free advertising spot on our official team shirts. As for our training, you may have seen us out and about in the neighborhood recently doing our training walks. We are up to ten mile walks - rain or shine - and next week we'll be completing a 20-mile walk around Pittsburgh. If you see us out, give us a wave!...We're always wearing our bright pink Breast Cancer 3-Day lanyards. As always, thanks for your continued support and we'll keep you posted on our progress!
