Hi Neighbors: We're writing to you as the Campaign for Change "Get Out the Vote" (GOTV) coordinators for Highland Park. In the 5 days leading up to the election, we're going to need hundreds of volunteers to help make sure that everyone in Highland Park gets to the polls. Volunteers will be needed for hanging signs on doors telling people where to vote, knocking on doors and making phone calls to make sure people have voted, helping voters with transportation to the polls, providing assistance and refreshments at the polling locations, etc. Highland Park residents have a strong tradition of turning out to vote, and with your help, we hope to have a record-breaking turnout for this year's election. If can spare a few hours of your time to help elect Senator Obama, please come to our neighborhood volunteer training meeting: What: GOTV Volunteer Training When: This Wednesday, October 15, at 6:30 p.m. Where: 126 North Highland Avenue (across from Capri Pizza near Penn Ave.) It’s not mandatory that you RSVP for this meeting, but if you think that you might be able to join us, please let us know. Also, after the training there will be a debate watch party up the street at the Red Lounge that everyone is welcome to attend. If you’re unable to come to the meeting this Wednesday, but can commit to volunteering a few hours of your time during the week before the election (or anytime before that), please respond to Shannon at saustermann@crl.ucsd.edu or (412) 715-3705 with your name and which hours on which days you can help out. We are going to need GOTV volunteers day and night on the following days: Wednesday, October 29 (40 volunteers needed) Thursday, October 30 (40 volunteers needed) Friday, October 31 (40 volunteers needed) Saturday, Novemeber 1 (40 volunteers needed) Sunday, November 2 (40 volunteers needed) Monday, November 3 (200 volunteers needed) TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 (500 volunteers needed!!) If you have already identified yourself as a volunteer with the campaign, you may also receive a phone call from another volunteer about scheduling for GOTV. If you schedule yourself by responding to this email, simply tell that to the person who calls you.
