Planning Ahead for St. Marathon Sunday
From St. Andrew's, Highland Park . . .
Sunday May 1st is the Sixth Easter Sunday, Rogation Sunday, and, here in Pittsburgh, "St. Marathon" Sunday--with the annual running of the Pittsburgh Marathon . . . . Always a great day in our city and here in our neighborhood! St. Andrew's is located on Hampton Street at the very northern edge of the Marathon route, which runs from the East Liberty Boulevard up North Highland Avenue, then across Bryant Street, then down North Negley Avenue to Baum Boulevard. We will have our regularly scheduled 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services of the Holy Communion on Sunday morning. Those who live within walking distance or "inside the loop" can make their way to St. Andrew's as usual. Those who live "outside the loop" are advised to park west of North Negley, east of North Highland, or north above Bryant Street, and then to walk in to St. Andrew's. For those who may be running in the Marathon, for those who will be lining the route to cheer, and for those who may find the cross-town traffic patterns too challenging, we will be offering our traditional "St. Marathon Eve" service in the Chapel at 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, April 30. There will be no Church School, Children's Chapel, or "Coffee and Conversation" this Sunday. Programs will resume at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday May 8.
