[Highland Park] Port Authority and the G-20
Neighbors, I am passing on the below so any needed changes to your transportation plans can be made. -------------------------- We wanted to offer a quick update on Port Authority of Allegheny County’s G-20 planning as there’s been quite a bit of recent public discussion about the summit, security zones and transportation changes. It appears there will be a major announcement next week regarding transportation plans, which will include Port Authority’s service. When a time is set, we will make you aware of the date by issuing an e- mail notice and posting it on our G-20 Web page (http://www.portauthority.org/g20 ). We are finalizing details of our transit plan and drafting maps that will show temporary routing during the summit. When the transportation plan is released next week, we will provide that information to you by e-mail and on our G-20 Web page. Port Authority intends to provide bus and light rail service into Downtown Pittsburgh during the summit. Due to security restrictions, routes will not use their normal streets in Downtown and riders will have to use different stops. Still, the buses and T will reach Downtown and offer ways for riders to transfer. Riders should anticipate delays in our system on those days and plan accordingly. Additional unanticipated changes in our routing could occur through the week of G-20. Port Authority plans to make riders, employers, schools and other groups aware of its service plan and any additional changes by using several tools. You should use these to say informed from now through the week of G-20. Port Authority’s G-20 Web page: www.portauthority.org/G20 E-mail: Anyone may sign up to receive route changes at our G-20 Web page. Via employers and schools: Port Authority has developed direct contacts with many major employers and schools who intend to relay our information to workers and students. Twitter: Port Authority plans to update route changes using its account at http://twitter.com/pghtransit. Stay tuned. Details will be coming very soon and we’ll be sure to let you know immediately.
