Participant Recruitment for Educational Research Project
Dear parent: Our research group at Carnegie Mellon University is looking for middle school-aged children to participate in a learning study on CMU's campus. The study consists of a single 60-90 minute session. We are recruiting middle school students to investigate how middle students solve problems. Participants in this study will work through specific instruction that is intended to support their understanding of different aspects of conducting science experiments. They will be asked to say what they are thinking while working through the program. Afterward, they will answer questions about what they did and did not like about the program. Eligible participants are enrolling in 6th - 8th grade in the Fall 2018/Spring 2019 school year and between 10 and 13 years old. Payment for participation in this study is $15. A parent or guardian must escort his/her child to Baker Hall on CMU's campus on the day of his/her child's study appointment in order to sign a consent form. Any parking expenses will be reimbursed. Both evening and weekend appointments are available. If you have any questions regarding this study or would like to have your child sign up for this study, please feel free to contact me (Yeyu Wang) at yeyuw@andrew.cmu.edu or by phone 412-628-5968. Thank you for your time! Best, Yeyu
