Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teacher Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council Families for Learning Center Job Description for Early Childhood Education Teacher Part Time Position: 15 hours per week; to include 12 hours direct care/service and 3 hours of planning and meeting time at the Lawrenceville Families for Learning Center; Monday through Thursday 9 AM to 12:45. 1. The ECE Teacher will be responsible for: a. 0-3 year old childrens care and instruction while the parents are enrolled in English as a Second Language (ESL)/Family Literacy classes three hours per morning, Monday through Thursday. b. Planning and implementing, with the assistance of the Family Literacy Coordinator and Head Start Education Coordinator, all ECE activities with the children. c. Preparing and serving the morning snack to the children. d. Cleaning up and straightening the toys and books in the ECE room after the morning classes. e. Participating in the Parent and Child Interactive Activities (PACT) and Parent Education (PE)that will occur during the Monday through Thursday morning classes. f. Communicating any issues regarding the children with the parents directly. g. Participating in GPLC Families for Learning meetings and planning sessions. 2. The ECE teacher will not be responsible for the dressing, diapering, bottle-feeding or disciplining of the children. a. Any issues with child discipline will require immediate attention by the parent on-site, possibly with the assistance of the Family Literacy Coordinator or the ECE Teacher. b. Any issues of diapering, dressing or bottle-feeding will be addressed by the parent. 3. The ECE teacher should love young children, appreciate diversity, and be outgoing, dedicated, and creative. *This position requires the applicant to have received their ACT 33/34 clearances (criminal record check and child abuse clearance) from the State of Pennsylvania prior to employment.
