The last time The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority tested the city's water for lead was 2013 and those tests showed the water was very close to federal limits. They won't test again until this spring and the results could not be public for a year. PWSA will test lead levels in customers' water for free. We're asking you take PWSA up on their offer. If you have PWSA water (meaning if you live in the city), please request PWSA come out and test your water for lead. The test is pretty simple. PWSA will send you a few bottles to collect samples of your water. You let your water sit overnight and collect the samples first thing in the morning. Return the bottles to PWSA and you should have your results in two to three weeks. To have your water tested call 412-782-7554. We'll use the results to get a sense of the city's lead levels now.
