[Highland Park] SUPER SWEET DOG IN NEED OF A HOME SWEET HOME
My wife and I are fostering perhaps the sweetest dog ever - an 8-month-old pit bull/lab mix named Treena (see link to some photos at bottom of email). Frankly, I've always been a little leery of pit bulls because of all the negative publicity about them. So when a friend stopped by yesterday after rescuing her from a neglectful home, I was reluctant to take her in. We have a 3-year-old black lab and a 13-year-old cat and I was afraid Treena might be aggressive towards one or both. But she's been the complete opposite. She's completely submissive to our 50-lb. dog, even though Treena probably has a couple of pounds on her. And when she sees the cat, she just wags her tail. She shows no signs of aggression or abuse. She's very friendly, playful, and happy. She just needs someone who can give her some attention. Besides being great around other animals, Treena knows basic commands (she comes when you call her and she'll sit) and seems to be housebroken. We have even walked her off leash the past two days and she's been perfect. She usually stays within 15 feet of us and she always comes right back when we call her --- and she did this after only being with us for about six hours. She's really an incredible little dog. We can't keep her because we're moving out of state in a few weeks and it would just be too hard to have two dogs and a cat during the move. It's already going to be difficult with the animals we have that throwing another into the mix is too much. We're probably going to have to take her to the Animal Rescue League Wednesday, so please let me know ASAP if you're interested and I'll have Treena's guardian get in touch with you.
