[Highland Park] Good Friday at St. Andrew's
Great Three Hours of Good Friday The St. Andrew's Parish Choir, under the direction of Peter Luley, will offer a choral service for the Third Hour of Good Friday, beginning at 2 p.m. tomorrow, April 6. The choral service will include: "Blessed Are They" (from Ein deutsches Requiem), Johannes Brahms (1833-1897); "The Lamentation of Jeremiah," -Edward Bairstow (1874-1946); "Drop, Drop, Slow Tears," Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625); "Christus Factus Est," Anton Bruckner (1824-18960; "Three Angels Were Singing," German, 13th century; "O Vos Omnes," Carlo Gesualdo (1560-1613); and the "Crux Fidelius," -att. King John IV of Portugal (1603-1656). The observance of the Great Three Hours at St. Andrew's will begin with the First Hour at noon with Stations of the Cross. At 1 p.m. the Second Hour will be the Prayer Book Service for Good Friday, with hymns, meditations, the Solemn Collects, and the Passion according to St. John.
