The event is sponsored by the Office of Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and by Councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith (District 2), Public Safety Chairperson. The event is completely free, open to all city residents, and includes a light breakfast, boxed lunch, and parking. Come learn how to start or sustain a block watch, understand crime statistics, navigate the city’s community safety website, or identify gang activity. A panel representatives from 311, 911, the Bureau of Building Inspection, the Department of Public Works, and the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh will answer your questions on the functions of their departments and how they respond to safety complaints. The event will also feature a keynote address by David J. Hickton, US Attorney for Western Pennsylvania.
