Thanks from the Highland Park Yard Sale Guy
For all of the Highland Park Yard Sale buyers and sellers, My gratitude and respect for all of the bargain hunters and yard salers (or sailors) who braved the rain last month and made the Highland Park yard sale a success. I was so impressed by the households that found ways to stay open throughout the worst of the downpour on Sunday, June 5th. Likewise, shoppers with ponchos and umbrellas (and a few who settled for soaked) roamed the neighborhood looking for items to purchase. As a side benefit, many people stayed in their cars and were able to explore the yard sales on the periphery of the neighborhood. Fortunately, the rain moved on before the Bryant Street Festival. Music, food and fun were shared by all. Everyone had a good time! I want to thank Lucy, Kathy and Amanda for handing out map listing to the visitors. Most of all, I want to thank all of Highland Park. We live in a wonderful neighborhood. This place, with its diverse population and friendly dispositions, attracts people from all over the region. We don't need to persuade them to visit, only remind them. I want to remind everyone that the Bryant Street Festival is funded and run by the Highland Park Community Council. If you are not yet a member or do not recall when you last registered, consider renewing you membership. HPCC is involved in many activities to better the quality of life in our community and can only succeed with the active participation of the residents of Highland Park. Visit www.hpccpgh.org <http://www.hpccpgh.org/> to sign up. Also: one of our sellers at the flea market lost a substantial amount of cash, all $20s, when the money fell out of her catch purse. If anyone who visited the flea market recalls picking this up, it would be a kind gesture to return it. The seller can be contacted through me to arrange the return of the money.
