The Legacy Arts Project is hosting the 8th Annual Keepers of the Flame Awards Ceremony and Gala Saturday, 2 November at Hosanna House, 807 Wallace Avenue, Wilkinsburg. Tickets for VIP reception, wine bar, and silent auction at 6 p.m. and performance are $35. Tickets for performance only at 8 p.m. are $20. The performance dramatizes Pittsburgh's Underground Railroad history through dance, drumming, and poetry. This year the honorees are Tina Brewer, Betty Lane, Saihou Njie, Alice Pittrell, K. Mensah Wali, and Highland Park's own Mama Kadiatou Conte-Forte. Guest Artistic Director is Kwame Ross, whose work is influenced by Haiti, Cuba, and Brazil.
