[Highland Park] summary of window recommendations
Thanks to everyone who provided info for window replacement. Two years ago I replaced the windows in another house with Pella Impervia series. I chose Impervia because they were recommended by Consumer Reports and I was very happy with the result. The customer service was wonderful, the windows were great. If I didn't have so many windows in this house I would use Pella (Monroeville) again. Per many requests, below are the recommendations I received from the list: "Thermo Twin window company is the best I know. Over 20 years ago my mom had them do her whole house. Not one problem. Good quality product & good quality installation. They are in the phone book -- Oakmont / Verona -- somewhere like that. Call them ASAP for an estimate & demo. They have a busy schedule -- I think. They did some of the windows in my home -- once I became a home owner. I wish I'd have had them do ALL of my windows. Product & installation was FAR superior to Pella windows who also did a few of mine." "my contractor is fantastic. H'e busy but may be able to fit you in. paul earnst 412-312-0714" "Please call Tom 412-805-5602. We are ins. and Lic. My windows are direct from the local factory. Please consider" "I havent had to replace a window yet, but Pella is local and they will come and and measure, fit, install.... and well, if you ask for a consult through my non-profit;s website we get 1% of the sale---they do the same with other local non profits too. So it's a personal plug but I thought I would put it out there! It's worth a look and I know their products and reputation are good. They have been good for us to work with through FPUF: http://www.pittsburghforest.org/pellawindows" "Don Kahler 412/853-5030 is an awesome contractor for your project. Let him know I recommended him. Also, be aware of Tom Morgan Ocean Breeze he does not do the work and subs it all out and adds 20% on top of the subs price. Good luck with your project" "I have two sources for windows (and I've done almost my whole house) For curve top and other custom ones, i use Allied Millwork in the strip. Chuck Stein has good prices though delivery can be slow. I use Bill marshall for installation (Chuck has his contact info.) For standard windows I use Pella. They are excellent. (Avoid Andersen)" "dun rite windows sharpsburg" "I'm having replacement windows installed today and tomorrow from Thermo Twin Windows (Oakmont PA). My contact is Ralph Chester 412-897-1118." "We had 11 custom windows made and installed by Trimline Windows on the northside (near the cardello building and manchester craftsmans guild). Pete Parras who installed them. We are very happy with the windows and have recommended them to many friends, who have used them and been happy. Their estimate was about half of anderson and Pella." "Pittsburgh Window and Door are fantastic! Have used them three times to replace our old windows with new wooden versions: http://www.pghwindowdoor.com/ Family owned in Millvale." "DunRite. Ask for Dino."
