Many of the bikes have been on the porches of the residents and not secured in any manner. Although no one deserves to be a victim of any crime, I would encourage that we take a few extra precautions until we apprehend the culprit. Please turn on a porch, backyard or side light if you have one. Please engrave your bikes with personalized information. A description in a police report is not enough; we recover a lot of bikes each year. Please report the theft to the police. Please stop by Zone 5 Station and ask the desk personnel to view the bikes we have recovered but cannot connect to an owner. Believe me we have a ton of them, and we are open 24 hours a day. Please call 911 if someone is suspicious and walking in your yards, or back alleys, or your neighbors' porch with no real purpose. That's how we developed a suspect in our Morningside burglaries, the neighbors called the police. If you have any additional ideas or concerns, as always, I can be reached at Zone 5. (412)665-3605 that number is available 24 hours a day as well, although I can not guarantee I'll be here at midnight for the night owls. Cmdr. The bike is dark rust in color though there are lots of old stickers on the frame. (even a "sandy" sticker mixed in) It's a men's style frame, with a "giant" seat. I've ridden this bike for 20 years. Needless to say I'm heartbroken about this heist. If anyone can advise me as to a place to check, in case it was ditched somewhere, please let me know. LOCK YOUR BIKE!
