Hello Neighbors I hope you are planning to attend the community festival this Sunday, June 2nd, from Noon to 5 pm.  After you get done doing your Yard Sale shopping, drop your stuff at your house and make your way to the 5800 and 5900 blocks of Bryant Street and check out what is going on.  Many of the local businesses with be open and have tables outside, so you can check them out if you have not had the opportunity to yet.  There are a few new places or new owners, so things may have changed since you last visited them. We will have your neighbors here to show off their artistic talents or discuss organizations that they are involved with.  I have tried to keep it local, with most folks being from Highland Park, but expanding out a little to our neighboring communities of the East End.  Did you know that a family doctor is opening up here (she will be at the festival), or that there is a farm in Garfield (they will have their mobile farmer's market cart here).   This is a time to show off what we have in our community and to meet our neighbors.  All are welcome. We will have some performers on the stage.  The lineup is: Noon    Elias Khoury (acoustic; a young rising star in Pittsburgh) 1:45      The Cliffdogs (Highland Park-based band) 2:30      Burke Conroy School of Irish Dance (Irish dancers, of course) 3:45      The Jimi Jaap Junction (a small band of young adults) I am excited about the festival again this year, as we have a few young artists and performers.  A few of the artists and the Jimi Jaap Junction band members are from our local high schools are are very talented.  One of the things that I love about this festival is giving young folks the opportunity to show off their talents, and to encourage them to be involved in the community and to continue in the arts. I will you on Sunday, talking to the vendors at the tables, meeting neighbors, eating, and enjoying our beautiful neighborhood.
