- www.unionproject.org - COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE AND HIGHLAND PARK HOUSE TOUR Come by the Union Project on Saturday, October 1 for an open house as part of the Highland Park House Tour. Nego Gato Music and Dance Ensemble will be performing and teaching dance in the Union Project Great Hall. The general public is encouraged to join in the dance instruction. Additional music will be happening throughout the day. Many free kids African art activities and free food from several different countries will be available. Festivities begin at 11 am. Contact hilary@unionproject.org for more information. This open house is funded in part by PA Council on the Arts, Stained Glass Classes return to Union Project! After a much needed summer break Union Project will again be offering stained glass restoration classes this fall. Classes will take place in the newly renovated Union Project stained glass studio! 2 exciting class opportunities will begin in mid-October. A Saturday morning class teaching the basics of leaded glass and new window construction will happen. Students will build 4 windows designed by community members as part of a spring design competition. A Thursday evening class will again teach restoration techniques and will be focusing on the restoration of the beautiful Union Project great hall windows. Deadline for registration is October 7. Our boardroom, atrium, and great hall are rentable on an hourly basis. Our new stained glass and clay studios are nearly complete and we’re planning a grand opening in late November to celebrate our progress. But we STILL NEED HELP! We’re writing to ask you to join up in our inaugural membership campaign with a tax-deductible donation to help us wrap up the construction on Union Station Cafe. Our goal is to raise $35,000 through this inaugural campaign and individual pledges! Detail on membership benefits are also available on the website: 1. $100 (or $9 a month for a year OR 100 hours of volunteer labor) sponsors a Union Station mug 2. $250 (or $21 a month) sponsors a Union Station chair 3. $500 ($42 a month) sponsors a Union Station table CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS The first portion of restoration work is nearing completion at the Union Project. Every Weekday, 10 am to 4 pm Saturday, Sept 24, 9 am to 3 pm Saturday, Oct. 1, 11 am to 4 pm Saturday, Oct. 22, 9 am to 3 pm Renaissance City Choirs at Union Project The Renaissance City Choirs’ 2005 annual fall fundraiser will be happening at Union Project. To be presented on October 7 & 8, the event will feature members of the Renaissance City Men’s and Women’s Choirs and guest artists in over 15 show-stopping acts, as well as passed hors douvres and a dessert and coffee buffet. The event will include solo performances, small ensembles and company production numbers. Funds raised at the event will help to underwrite the Choir’s operating expenses. Comprised of approximately 70 gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and supportive individuals from the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, the Renaissance City Choirs perform at numerous venues throughout the year.
