From one Highland Park resident who enjoys different and good food to others:::: Recently a new Mediterranean (Turkish inspired) Cafe opened on Ellsworth Ave--directly across the street from Crazy Mocha Coffee Shop---in the former cupcake shop. the new eatery is called:: " DAPHNE CAFE" 5811 Ellsworth Ave 412-441-1130 appetizers --- $4.99 to $5.99 salads/wraps/panini --- $7.99 entrees --- $10.99 to $14.99 (served with Bulgur Pilaf and Vegetables) deserts --- $4.99 to $5.99 Some of the don't miss items::: Appetizer - #3 Lebni (home made yogurt with walnuts/mint/dill and garlic #6 Ezme Salad (mixture of minced tomatoes/hot spices/garlic/ onions/olive oil and lemon juice) *** #8 Eggplant with Sauce(cubes of fried eggplant/green and red peppers in fresh tomato and garlic sauce) Entrees - #25 Chicken Shisk Kebab #26 Grilled Salmon Then you have to finish off your meal with the ::: Pistachio Wrap and Kazandibi with turkish tea (Kazandibi --- a turkish custard rich with the flavor of vanilla) Right now their hours are 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM --- seven days a week After the first of the year -- planning to be open--- 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM --- seven days a week For a large group and private parties --- they have a very Turkish inspired and decorated room on the lower level Good weather --- nice size patio on the side.........
