We invite you to participate in "Opera Camp for Adults," a fun and affordable week-long, evening program in the City of Pittsburgh offering a multi-faceted exploration of Henry Purcell's "The Faierie Queen," based on the story from William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Campers may choose to sing in a Concert Choir or perform in Staged Scenes from the work, as well as participate in acting games, nature hikes, crafts, and lectures on Fairy Lore. (Yes, this is for grown-ups!) Please read our audition announcement to find out more: The East End Song Studio will hold Auditions on May 19th from 10 AM to 2 PM at First United Methodist Church in Shadyside, 5401 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15232 for our one-week Opera Camp for adults, "The Green Bohemian Opera Company Presents: Henry Purcell's "The Faerie Queen." Please sing a light classical or legit musical theater vocal selection in English to audition. Audition fee $10. Pianist provided. Camp takes place in the evenings, July 15th-21st, 2012, at First United Methodist Church with Wednesday off and a culminative "Performance Party" on Saturday, July 21st. Campers may choose to participate in the Concert Choir, (6-8 pm Sun-Tu and Th, 6-9 on Fri-Sat) which practices as a traditional choir and performs at the final event in comfortable dress clothes, or a Scene Study program (7-9pm Sun-Tu and Th, 6-9 pmFri-Sat) which gives singers who desire to take part in a dramatic scene a chance to perform on stage with others. Both groups will perform with "Ensemble Colla Voce," an 8-piece string ensemble, at the final performance party on Saturday, June 21st. During the hour of 7 to 8 pm each evening, the choir members and scene study group will combine to take part in lectures and activities including explorations of Faerie Lore, acting games with Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," musicological lectures on the early Baroque period, and games and experiences in the natural world. Scene Study participants will be expected to have their parts memorized upon commencement of camp, Sunday, July 15th.
