[Highland Park] Lock your doors!!
I opened my back door last week to let the cool air in and may have forgotten to close and lock it. In the morning, my keys were missing. I would have never thought that someone had taken them except that two pounds of strawberries--go figure--were missing from the frig. I would have just gotten another set thinking that I misplaced them. I think that there is a group going around at night to find back doors left open or unlocked because it is summertime. They take only keys--except for strawberries--and then come back when the residents have left. It's alot safer for them that way. Needless to say, I changed the locks on all the main doors. Words to the wise. Blessings, Steve
As a result of the recent emails concerning break-ins, I thought I would share this information with you. Last week we saw three young adult males (2 white and 1 black) outside of our house. One of them was sitting in the driver's side of the car (trunk was open) and the other two were outside of the car looking into our house. Our front door was open. When we approached them, they hopped into their car and speed away through a stop sign. However, I was able to get the license plate and make of the car. Ford Contour - Silver license plate # GSV 0954 Not sure if this is anything! -----Original Message----- From: neighborhood-bounces@highlandpark.pgh.pa.us [mailto:neighborhood-bounces@highlandpark.pgh.pa.us] On Behalf Of stephen@sgscalese.com Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2007 10:32 PM To: neighborhood@highlandpark.pgh.pa.us Subject: [Highland Park] Lock your doors!! I would also like to add, in light of this info, that it is equally important to keep windows locked, even overnight. We were recently awakened by our dog (thank heavens he was barking this time!) to find our back window in our kitchen wide open. The windowsill had been cleared and someone was definately planning on coming in before being foiled by our dog. It is hard in the hot weather but we are now keeping in lockdown mode most of the time. Regards for a safe and happy summer!
