Fwd: Opportunity for seniors GRAN Activist Network
Please see the message below from the Jewish Healthcare Foundation. My name is Kylea Covaleski and I am a Program Assistant at the Jewish Healthcare Foundation. I wanted to let you know about a new program we are offering. The GRAN Activist Network- Senior Civic Academy, which focuses on advocacy around increased Medicaid funding for skilled services and supports for seniors. You will find details below. As well as a flyer attached. If you are interested in participating or have members/ community members who may be interested let me know. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. The Jewish Healthcare Foundation is committed to activism as a core strategy – engaging community and professionals to help change systems of care and payment in the world (or our corner of it)! Right now we are focused on activating seniors to get involved in the fight to make sure that Pennsylvania Medicaid meets its obligations to adequately fund Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs). Payment rates have been stagnant for the past 5+ years and the SNF’s rightful slice of the pie is shrinking, seriously endangering the ability to care for the impending needs of frail seniors. To that end, we are launching the GRAN Activist Network this March and were hoping you would want to be part of this effort! We are recruiting a cohort of Senior Activists (no more than 15-20) for a weekly Series scheduled for Tuesdays between 10:00 am and 2 pm this March and April at our Learning Center on 26th floor of our building. We will be involving experts in aging and Medicaid policy to educate us all on the issues, and other experts around issues of government, how to engage with politicians, etc., and successful activists to share their case studies and tips! I hope you will agree to participate, and/or will suggest others whom I can engage. Anyone interested, can contact me at covaleski@jhf.org.
