[Highland Park] No Mail Delivery
Good morning, Continuing with the No Mail Delivery saga…My husband has spent many "hours" on hold trying to call the various USPS offices concerning our missing mail and had given up…..I went on line to the USPS website and completed the “New Complaint Form” last Friday concerning no or missing mail as others have suggested to do. We received a call from the East Liberty Post Office that evening asking if we had sent the complaint and to verify the information contained in the complaint. Saturday afternoon our mailman Dave banged on our door. He said he had received our complaint from his supervisor and was told to look into it. Dave told us that he was instructed during the month of December to make sure that packages were his priority and junk mail was not to be delivered. Junk mail also included the grocery store ads and catalogs. We asked him if regular mail was mixed in with the junk mail and he said no. We explained to him that not only were we not receiving junk mail but were missing multiple other pieces of mail including bills, requested invoices from a company we were dealing with (which had been sent, returned to the company as non-deliverable mail, resent in the same envelope and finally delivered), our tenants rent checks (one that was sent twice and neither received) and Christmas cards. He told us he only could deliver was he was given and would make sure that we received all of our mail from then on???? This past Monday (Dec 30th) we received a special Christmas card that we were waiting on that was mailed 1 week prior on Dec 23rd. The day after Christmas we received one piece of mail, a bit strange for no mail the day before. I am interested to see what we get today due to no mail yesterday. We explained to Dave that is was not just us, but multiple families in our area were also not getting mail and this was very disturbing to everyone. He stated that he does not deliver to all of Highland Park but to our Portland St area. Well, told him there were a lot of unhappy folks that were looking for resolution from the Postal Service. So we did find out that when a New Complaint Form is submitted, someone does follow up. This seems to be the way to get your concerns out, not that the problem was explained or resolved. Let’s just see if mail starts to be delivered now.
