[Highland Park] Earth Day Clean-up at Negley Run
I'm sending this message on behalf of Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. There's a big clean-up event happening on Saturday in Negley Run from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Pittsburgh Clean Neighborhood Collaborative (PCNC), PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and individuals looking to make Pittsburgh a cleaner city are sponsoring a high-profile cleanup in honor of Earth Day, with special guest appearances by City officials. This is part of the Great Pennsylvania Cleanup, an ambitious statewide effort to Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful. For more details check out the Great Pennsylvania Cleanup website. <http://www.dep.state.pa.us/earthdaycentral/04/> We're looking to recruit 150 volunteers to help clean up along Negley Run Boulevard between East Liberty Blvd. and Washington Blvd. on the Highland Park side. Volunteers ages 13 to 17 must have a signed permission slip to volunteer. All volunteers must wear long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy boots. Volunteers receive a free T-shirt, refreshments, and $2 off admission to the Wild Earth Day Extravaganza at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium (April 24 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm). Parking is at the old state police barracks on Washington Blvd. (If you're heading toward the Allegheny River turn LEFT at the light for Highland Drive.) Please spread the word! Call Ginette Walker, Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) at 412-431-4449 x243 or Danielle Crumrine, PA CleanWays of Allegheny County at 412-322-6681 x243 for more information and/or to pre-register. <http://www.prc.org/> <http://www.pacleanways.org/allegheny/>
