We hope to have a very large, peaceful and historic event to end the War and bring our troops home. Please take note of the following details: The event is primarily sponsored by United for Peace & Justice and they have a web site you can visit for full details at www.unitedforpeace.org. Locally, the Thomas Merton Center and Pittsburgh Anti-War Committee are mobilizing support along with numerous other local groups. Various groups from Pittsburgh will be supporting bus mobilization and some of these buses will depart from Oakland and other locations to be announced. A bus has been chartered by State Senator Jim Ferlo. The bus will depart at 5 a.m. from 1125 N. Highland Avenue (Tazza D'Oro coffee shop) the morning of Saturday, September 24, 2005. We will participate in the scheduled march and rally near the Washington Monument and the Eclipse. More details will be available soon. The Senator Ferlo bus will leave Washington, D.C at approximately 5:30 p.m. and we will return to Highland Park at approximately 10:30 in the evening. Amy Enrico, owner of Tazza d'Oro has graciously donated coffee and refreshments for the bus trip. We will also have water, juice, and soft drinks on the bus. You may want to bring comfortable walking shoes, an umbrella in case of rain, and any medications or first aid items you think you may need such as sun cream, a hat, prescriptions, etc. Bus tickets are $30 per seat. Check/money order can be made payable to "JIM FERLO" who has incurred the contractual obligation for the bus. We can accept cash payment but money must be hand-delivered to 3507 Butler Street, in Lawrenceville, and a receipt will be provided. DO NOT MAIL CASH.
