Here is your weekly Community Crime Update. For our Homewood neighbors, you should notice an increased police presence in the area of last week's shooting in the 7300 block of Idlewild & Kelly Streets. Our Community Resource Officers (CRO's) will be working in your neighborhood all week, as will our plainclothes officers, and our Special Deployment Division (SDD) has assigned some motorcycles to provide additional patrols in the area due to the increased violence. One other thing... starting next week, you will notice the term "VPI Officers" used in the weekly updates. VPI stands for "Violence Prevention and Intelligence." These are the officers that work in plainclothes but are specifically tasked with handling the firearms and narcotics investigations at each zone. That's all for now... have a safe week!
