[Highland Park] a jazz concert for a good cause
Hello Highland Park Neighbors, My name is Bob Studebaker and I'm a jazz disc jockey at WDUQ-FM. I am posting this to encourage you to consider attending a jazz benefit concert for essential human services in Wilkinsburg. This event is called Mulberry Jazz and will feature the Chuck Austin Quartet (Chuck is the president of the African American Jazz Preservation Society of Pgh.) and vocalist Sandy Dowe. It will be Saturday April 29th with doors opening at 6pm for refreshments and an informal discussion of the history of jazz and the concert will get started around 7. It should be over before 9:30. This concert is to benefit the Center at Mulberry which provides a food pantry, clothes pantry, senior citizens center, a family outreach center of Childrens Hospital, counselling and other services to the residents of Wilkinsburg. Tickets are $10 ($7 for students and senior citizens). This is going to be a very enjoyable evening and has already received wonderful support from many east end businesses. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust has also offered support and just last week Mellon Jazz agreed to be our "presenting" sponsor. Please consider spending a few hours on a Saturday evening enjoying good company, good conversation, great music and most importantly supporting a very worthwhile cause. The location is Mulberry Presbyterian Church 740 South Avenue, and parking is easy. Thank you, Bob Bob Studebaker Program Host/Production Director WDUQ-FM Pittsburgh
