Southbound traffic will be detoured across the 40th Street Bridge to Butler Street to Penn Avenue to the 16th Street Bridge. Traffic on the 40th Street Bridge will not be able to access southbound Route 28; access to northbound Route 28 and Millvale will remain open.**** ** ** Northbound (outbound) Route 28 will remain open; however, intermittent traffic stoppages of 15 minutes or less will occur as needed. To avoid possible delays, northbound motorists are encouraged to use the detour above as an alternate route in the opposite direction. **** ** ** The closure and stoppages are needed for sign and truss structure erection. **** ** ** Additionally, overnight southbound Route 28 will be reduced to a single lane on Monday, April 29 and Wednesday through Friday, May 1-3. Single lane traffic will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night between the 40thStreet Bridge and East Ohio Street. Intermittent traffic stoppages of 15 minutes or less will occur as needed on northbound (outbound) Route 28.**** **** The work is part of the $36.4 million Route 28 Phase IV improvement project.The prime contractor is the Trumbull Corporation of Pittsburgh.
