One definition of “community” is: a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests and goals. We hope you’ll work with us toward our goal of making the Highland Park community safe and inviting for all. When you're on the road as a driver, cyclist, or pedestrian, be alert and respectful of others. As a driver, there’s no need to speed or cut people off; be the person who lets other cars in, slows so pedestrians can cross, and gives bikes and scooters lots of space. As a pedestrian, pay attention to your surroundings, and don’t step into traffic if you’re going to force someone to slam on their breaks. On a bike or scooter? Stay on the road and off the sidewalk, and follow traffic laws. A little consideration on our roads will make everyone happier and safer. And when you’re at the park, parklet or just walking in the ‘hood, leave the space as nice - or nicer! Be sure to take your trash and cigarette butts and dispose of them properly. Let’s make every day a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Read her story on the HPCC blog (https://hpccpgh.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ed770e831682d049448ee942c&id=ae083c433c&e=eb0bdabb3c) . ** Super Playground Construction Update ------------------------------------------------------------ The Super Playground re-building is well underway, with concrete for the new playground entrance already visible at the construction site. The re-opening initially was planned for early June. However, due to global shipping issues, the playground equipment will now be arriving in late May. Once it arrives, the rest of the construction will take about two months, with a likely reopening in early August. We know everyone is impatient for the new playground so we'll keep you updated with any further changes. ** Lifeguards Wanted! ------------------------------------------------------------ The city’s ability to open city pools - including the Highland Park pool - will be directly related to its success recruiting lifeguards. The city has increased lifeguard wages this year as part of this effort, with wages ranging between $16 - $18.50/hour. For additional info, call 412-323-7928 or follow the link below.
