HP, I think we have a problem (water pressure)
Hi Neighbors! I got a *lot* of responses for my inquiry about low water pressure. I’ll include an anonymous roundup of comments below, but I think the main takeaway is that there are enough of us that we need to take action. I think if we all individually flood PWSA with reports in the next couple days that they will be forced to realize this is a neighborhood-wide issue. There seems to be a pattern of them dismissing individual complaints and blaming it on the cold, but a lot of people (like myself) noticed the problem before the cold snap. One responder included this info and I am going to call PWSA today. https://www.pgh2o.com/projects-maintenance/service-outages “at that link there's a phone # and I encourage you to call. if you have a landlord, contact them as well” So my original question asked if anyone else had recently noticed low water pressure around the 800 block of N.Highland and N.Beatty? Here are responses so far; “ Yes, for months now.” “ I'm on 800 block farragut and my water pressure has been low for over a month” “ the entire huge apartment house at 401 Shady has been experiencing low water pressure for well over a week” “ 800 block of Euclid for sure” “ Yup! It's been low on Beatty.” “ Yes, I've noticed this too, for the last couple of weeks, maybe. I thought maybe it was due to some water-main breaks. N. Euclid.” “ I am on the 800 N Euclid block, low water pressure for over a week now.” “ It’s been since they replaced the water line at Highland and Jackson. I told them about it and they thought I was crazy.” “ Yes! We live on the 800 block of Mellon and have also experienced low water pressure.” “ I was noticing this week and last week. It was bad, then good, and now it is meh.” 800 block N. Highland “ I live in the 800 block of Farragut. I have had low water pressure before this cold snap. But now it is much worse. I even opened up the faucets and let the water drip during the night. This hasn’t helped at all. I can barely wash dishes!“ “ Yes! We've been experiencing low water pressure too in 800 N Beatty block. We've had it for a couple weeks - before the really cold temperatures started. My husband sent in a report to PWSA and received a callback. PWSA thinks it has to do with pipes being partially frozen between the house and the street, but the details of their explanation did not really make sense to us.” “ Yes! And it's very frustrating. The 3rd floor bathroom especially.” And one person in the area responded that they had not noticed a drop in pressure. Please consider using the link up above and registering a complaint with PWSA. Feel free to forward along this email if that might help. If anyone else has further ideas please make a post to the HP listserv! Thank you all for your responses!! Tazio Sent from my iPhone
