Highmark Community Blue Patients CAN See Their UPMC Primary Care Doctors in 2015, Possibly In-Network
Hi, As many of you know, I am a professional writer, author, and sometimes journalist. Because there is so much confusion about what is and isn't possible with Highmark Community Blue members and their UPMC doctors, I have been doing a lot of research into the situation and have written an article to help get clear and accurate information out there (it may be the first of three articles to clarify many important aspects of this situation). To summarize, the article reports: GOOD NEWS - Highmark Community Blue patients CAN see their UPMC primary care doctors in 2015 (through the new Community Blue Flex plan). BAD NEWS - It’s likely that they will need to see their UPMC doctors out-of-network, and this could be very expensive. POSSIBLE GOOD NEWS - It may be possible for Community Blue patients to see their UPMC primary care doctors in-network in 2015 for “Continuity Of Care.” They’ll need to talk with their UPMC doctors to determine this. However, their physicians may not have enough information right now to know. Details are in the article, titled "Letter to a Worried Friend re Highmark and UPMC," on my website: www.vision-and-values.com. I have written this article as a public service, and it has been thoroughly researched. If you know people who are worried about this situation, feel free to send them this link: www.vision-and-values.com/health/index.htm. Also feel free to pass this information on to any groups/churches, etc. who have members who would like to know about this. They are welcome to share what I have learned in their newsletters, etc. janet jai Vision and Values
