[Highland Park] plants stolen from the Union Project
Last week, the Beechwood Garden Center on Ellsworth Avenue donated around $300 worth of roses and other assorted perennials to the Union Project. They were stored on the back porch, not in immediate view from the street, until we could plant them this weekend. However, sometime between Monday evening and Friday morning, someone stole all but 2 of the plants, including all the roses! If anyone saw anything suspicious, please let us know so we can inform the police. Union Project info@unionproject.org 412-363-4550
The Union Project was vandalized over the weekend. WTAE-TV ran a story on their 11-o'clock news showing the damage to the building apparently caused by *children* who broke into the building and even lit fires inside. This was, of course, in addition to the theft of plants already reported here. Many of the items which had been donated to the Union Project for Sunday's yard sale were also damaged. If you witnessed any unusual activity at the Union Project (corner of Stanton and North Highland Avenues) over the long holiday weekend, please contact the police and/or the Union Project: Union Project info@unionproject.org 412-363-4550 There is an "anonymous tip form" on the City of Pittsburgh web site: <http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/police/html/police_tip_form.html> Paper copies are also available.
