There has been an uptick of thefts of and from vehicles. To protect yourselves, do not leave anything valuable in your vehicle and leave your vehicle and garage (if you have one!) locked. Zone 5 Weekly Crime Report July 22 through July 28 Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Zone 5 Police Station Weekly Crime Report *Week of July 22 through July 28* Pictured above: The new Ft Pitt Basketball Court. The court was made possible by a collaborative effort with City of Pittsburgh Housing Authority, Mayor Peduto's office, and the Garfield community. *Homewood / East Hills* *7/23/19-Criminal Trespass in the 7300 block of Monticello St at 1:15 AM-*A female victim reported that she woke up and saw a black male wearing a horizontal striped shirt, black pants, and a red bandana standing in her doorway. The female stated that she told the male to 'Get out', and the male left. Nothing was reported stolen, and the female reported that she may have left her door unlocked. (144598) *7/25/19 -Theft from Vehicle near the corner of N Homewood & Mt Vernon St at 7:00 AM- *Unknown actors entered the victim’s unlocked car and rummaged through his possessions. Nothing is missing at this time. (146465) *7/24/19-Shots fired in the 2100 block of Park Hill Dr at 10:30 PM- *Officers responded to a call for shots fired into an apartment building. On scene, officers recovered bullet fragments and were relieved to learn the bullets did not penetrate into the interior of the structure. (145887) *7/25/19-Shots fired in the 7800 block of Hamilton Ave at 2:00 AM-* Officers responded to a shot spotter alert at this location. There was no evidence of injuries or property damage. Officers were able to recover five 9mm casings, which were sent to the crime lab. (145976) *7/26/19-Theft in the 7200 block of Upland St at 12:00 AM-*A victim reported that he had a new Whirlpool clothes dryer and a fairly new college-sized refrigerator stolen from his front porch. (149302) *7/28/19-Shots Fired in the 7300 block of Frankstown Ave at 5:10 AM*-Zone 5 Officers received a ShotSpotter notification for shots fired in the area. Officers found a blue SUV with damage from gunfire. No one was injured. (148355) *Larimer / Lincoln-Lemington* *7/22/19 - Purse theft in the 1300 block of Washington Blvd at 7:30 AM- *An employee of a local business came to work and immediately began to help with flooding related problems, leaving her purse temporarily unattended. When she returned she discovered her bag was missing. Security cameras revealed two clients of the program selecting items from the purse and ultimately taking it. (145316) *7/23/19 - Package theft from the 1600 block of Broadhead St at 12:00 PM. *The victim received a package delivery from Amazon but the box was delivered empty. (144862) *7/24/19 – Burglary in the 1300 block of Pointview St at 2:15 PM *Unknown actor forced entry into the victim’s home, breaking a door in the process. At this time it is believed nothing was stolen. (145547) *7/25/19 – Theft from Vehicle and Vehicle Theft in the 6400 block of Olivant St at 5:00 AM* The victim stored the keys to his mother’s 2008 black Honda Element (3RD-ELMT) inside his unlocked car. Unknown actors entered the victim’s vehicle, removed the keys to the Element and stole it. (146042) *7/25/19 – Aggravated Assault in the 500 block of Larimer Ave at 5:00 PM. *When responding to a 911 call for a man shot, officers arrived to the medics transporting a 21 year old male victim to the hospital. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder and is in stable condition. (146438) *Bloomfield / Garfield / Friendship* *7/22/19 – Theft from Vehicle in the 4700 block of Cypress St at 6:00 PM* Unknown actor entered the victim’s locked car and stole a fanny pack containing the various personal effects and a small amount of cash. (145668) *7/22/19-Theft from Vehicle in the 100 block of North Aiken at 6:00 PM-*A victim reported that someone entered her vehicle and ransacked through the contents. Nothing was reported stolen, and the vehicle may have been unlocked. (145314) *7/23/19 -Theft and Access Device Fraud in the 200 block of S Matilda St.* Sometime between May 2019 and the present the victim’s credit cards were taken out of her home office and were used to make several thousands of dollars in charges. (145037) *7/23/19-Burglary in the 5200 block of Broad St*-A victim reported that her Sig Sauer P250 9mm S/N EAK072732 pistol, black finish, was stole from her residence sometime between July 23 and July 25 at 5:00 PM. (146496) *7/26/19-Overdose on Liberty Ave near the Bloomfield Bridge at 2:20 PM*-Zone 5 Officer and City Medic responded for a 47 year old male who had overdosed. Two doses of Narcan were given. The male was revived successfully (147080) *7/27/19-Theft in the 5200 block of Penn Ave*-Two juvenile victims reported that they were collecting money for their local cheer leading team when a black male, medium build, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans, with a red bandana stole $130.00 from their collection bucket and fled on foot. (147909) *East Liberty / Highland Park* *7/22/19 - Vehicle theft 6100 block Station St.* Victim’s 2012 white Nissan Sentra (KVS-0086) was stolen from this area. (144315) *7/22/19 - Package theft from the 700 block of N. Euclid Ave AT 3:00 PM-* Two packages were stolen from the victim’s front porch. His video doorbell captured a black female with long black braids come onto his porch and walk off with the packages. (144405) *7/22/19- Burglary and Criminal Mischief 5500 block of Hays St. *Unknown actor entered the victim’s locked, detached garage and did extensive damage to a 2006 Volvo. Nothing appears to have been stolen at this time. (143588) *7/22/19 - Theft from 1300 block of Cordova Rd*. Unknown actor came onto the victim’s sidewalk and stole 2 stone planters. (145027) *7/24/19 - Robbery, Unlawful Restraint, Simple Assault at the intersection of N. Negley and Bryant St*. Officers responded to a call of a woman beaten and forced into a car. When officers encountered the vehicle they discovered the female victim had locked herself in the car with the assailant outside. This was determined to be a domestic and actor Jeffrey Noszka, 58 of Highland Park was subsequently arrested. (145885) *7/24/19 - Vehicle Theft in the 5500 block of Avondale Pl. *The victim’s car was stolen from outside his home overnight. Zone 5 officers spotted the car on the morning of 7/26 occupied by 3 juvenile females. The vehicle was stopped without incident and the 17 year old female driver was arrested. (146096) *7/24/19 -Theft from Vehicle in the 1300 block of Cordova Rd. * Unknown actors entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle sometime after 8:00 PM, and rummaged through the contents. Nothing is missing at this time. (146471) *7/24/19-Theft from vehicle in the 1300 block of Cordova Rd*-Unknown actors entered the victim's unlocked vehicle sometime after 11:00 PM. Nothing is missing at this time. (146531) *7/24/19 -Theft from Vehicle in the 1300 block of King Ave. *Unknown actors entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole loose change. (146153) *7/24/19 -Theft from Vehicle in the 5500 block of Avondale Pl*. Unknown actors entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole loose change. (146230) *7/25/19-Theft of a Vehicle in the 6000 block of Jackson St*-A victim reported that his vehicle (2010 silver Volkswagen Passat PA plate KTL9249) was stolen sometime after 9:00 PM. The victim was unsure if his doors were locked, and stated that he sometimes keeps a spare key in the vehicle. *7/26/19-Theft from Vehicle in the 5500 block of Stanton* Ave-A victim reported that his vehicle was broken into sometime after 12:30 AM, and $86.00 U.S currency, ID cards, and credit cards were stolen. (149206) *7/26/19-Theft from Vehicle in the 1200 block of Heberton St* at 1030 AM-A victim reported that he left his unlocked, parked vehicle in his driveway for ten minutes, and discovered that someone had rummaged through his vehicle, and stole an exercise bag containing clothing and headphones. (147016) *7/28/19-Theft from Vehicle in the 900 block of Portland St-*A victim reported that someone broke into his locked vehicle sometime after 7:30 PM, and stole $5.00 in change and a pair of leather gloves. (149529) *Morningside / Stanton Heights / Waterworks* *7/22/19 -Theft and Identity Theft in the 1100 block of Woodbine St. *The victim’s driver’s license update card was stolen. The victim was unaware of the theft until he received a summons in the mail for several traffic violations (which were obviously not his). (144167) *7/28/19-Theft from Vehicle in the 1400 block of Morningside Ave*-A victim reported that her unlocked vehicle was broken into, and $4.00 in change was stolen.
