[Highland Park] local laundry complaint
I recently had a very negative experience with the manager and owner, Jeff Meyers, of the Econowash Laundry, 250 S. Highland Ave (across from Casbah) that I would like to share. I took in an all-cotton rug to be laundered by the drop off service. After I picked it up and brought it home I noticed there was a 6 inch cut in the rug and it was shredded about 4 inches wide. This is a very sturdy, tightly woven rug that could only be mangled by a machine in this way. I called to talk with Meyers about this but rather than dealing with me in an amicable way, he proceeded to yell over the phone. He was totally rude and disrespectful. He claimed the rug was old and worn out (though he did not see it himself) and was not harmed by the machine. He would hardly let me explain and hung up on me. Regardless of what I expect from a final outcome of such a dispute, I don't expect to be treated in this way by a business owner. I will not be patronizing this place again and so I am passing on this info. Local businesses with poor customer service relations should not be tolerated and many are allowed to stay around longer than they should when we don't register our complaints. Tera Hunter
