[Highland Park] Walks in the Woods - Summer 2007 (REMINDER)
Let's take a walk in the park! The first "Walk in the Woods" of summer 2007 is this week--Wednesday, June 1, 2007 at 6:30 pm. Meet at the restored fountain and gardens on Reservoir Drive near the intersection of North Highland Avenue and Bunkerhill Street. The current weather forecast looks pretty nice, but when planning what to wear keep in mind that paths in the park can be uneven and/or muddy. The exact route we take depends on who shows up. If you plan to bring a baby, I suggest using something like a Baby Bjorn instead of a stroller. Please arrive promptly at 6:30 pm so we can begin the walk as scheduled. There is no need to RSVP. The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy sponsors these walks in the four major Pittsburgh Parks. Each walk is led by volunteer docents who can tell you about what's going on in the park, park history, and can talk about the many different types of plants you'll see in the parks. The next walk in Highland Park is scheduled for August 1. The schedule for the other parks is as follows: Frick: June 13, July 11, & August 8; Riverview: June 20, July 18, August 18; and Schenley: June 27, July 25, & August 22. We are planning special Sunday Walks in the Woods in September with a special focus on park and area history. If leading walks like this interests you, please let me know because docent opportunities are available. For more information, call Amy Gelzheiser, Special Events Coordinator, at 412-682-7275 x209. Of course it's June 6, not June 1... Rudy
