[Highland Park] slow down when driving through the neighborhood
Spring is finally here. The trees are budding, the grass is greening, children are outdoors playing, and cars are speeding. Sure, we have cars that cut through our neighborhood streets on their way to somewhere else, but the majority of speeding cars in our neighborhood are Highland Park residents. In my block alone, we have 11 children in the fourth grade and below, countless dogs, bikes, tricycles, and pedestrians. Speeding vehicular traffic is a safety hazard and distasteful. You know, you're taking a walk and a car blows by you on one of the neighborhood streets, it just makes you crazy. 25 mph may seem like creeping, but it's the posted speed limit and the law. But more important, it's the speed limit that's safe for a densely populated neighborhood like ours. Please adhere to the speed limit and slow down while driving through our neighborhood streets; let's make it a safe summer for everyone. Kitty Cheatham Sheridan Avenue
