The latest report is attached. Please read the message below from the Commander. Just a heads-up that our section is long and a bit concerning. Attached you will find your Community Crime Update for the week of July 11th - July 17th. We had quite a busy week but I am happy to report that our officers were able to make a number of arrests in many of the cases, and have positively identified suspects in several other cases. Officers will be obtaining arrest warrants in those cases. We did see a spike in street robberies this week in the East Liberty business district, all occurring late at night, and our officers were able to make an arrest in one of those robberies. This may or may not be the same suspect who committed the other robberies but we will be focusing on that area late at night just as a precaution. Additionally, we are still experiencing a higher than usual number of thefts from vehicles in East Liberty and Highland Park. The vast majority of these thefts were from vehicles that had been left unlocked. Please make sure you lock your car doors ALL OF THE TIME and do not leave valuables in plain sight. Please encourage your neighbors to do the same! Lastly, on behalf of all of the men and women at Zone 5, I want to thank our residents for their outpouring of support in the wake of the shootings of police officers across the country and threats against officers locally. Your e-mails, cards, and visits to the station mean a great deal to our officers and we are all very appreciative. Wishing everyone a safe, happy week...
