[Highland Park] Morningside rapist arrest
According to Pittsburgh Police sources, there has been an arrest made tonight in the case of the man accused of rape in Morningside recently. You can watch the local news for more information.
The Post-Gazette stated he was living in an abandoned home in Highland Park in the 900 block of N. St. Clair. We have a number of abandoned homes in the southwest quadrant of Highland Park. Who checks that they are all secured? Everyone that lives around one should pay close attention to any changes in them, or people on the property. The 900 block of N. Saint Clair is terrible. I live in the 800 Block of N. Saint Clair and there are two abandoned houses owned by the East Liberty Development Corp. I called the city a couple of months ago and filed a complaint about how those two houses were not secure and ELDC came and boarded up all the windows and doors that were open. If there are any abandoned houses anywhere in the neighborhood that are not secure, then call the city and lodge a complaint. I called the city on a Friday afternoon and the city immediately contacted the owner who contacted me. ELDC came a couple of days later to secure the properties. Please call the city and file complaints on abandoned houses. It is the owner's responsibility to make sure that their property is secure. Also, my neighbor who is a realtor informed me recently that the ELDC is buying up properties in the 900 block of N. Saint Clair. If that is true, then perhaps that is a good sign and that corner or Highland Park will improve. On Thu, Jul 16, 2009 at 11:10 AM, <christine.grzyb@bnymellon.com> wrote:

Truth be told, those abandoned buildings should be torn down. If they are up for a certain amount of time the city is actually legally bound to tear them down. Maybe we should look more into this. ________________________________ From: neighborhood-bounces@highlandparkpa.com on behalf of christine.grzyb@bnymellon.com Sent: Thu 7/16/2009 11:10 AM To: lynn.burns@comcast.net Cc: neighborhood-bounces@highlandparkpa.com; neighborhood@highlandparkpa.com Subject: Re: [Highland Park] Morningside rapist arrest The Post-Gazette stated he was living in an abandoned home in Highland Park in the 900 block of N.
