[Highland Park] Dogs being left outside in the cold
Hello, I have noticed that more than a few neighborhood people seem to be leaving dogs out in the cold until the wee hours or even all night. There is no fooling me because I hear the poor creatures barking and/or visually observe them. Also, a kennel or crappily put together shelter does not suffice in this weather. Besides being heartbreakingly lonely this is inhumane and a danger to the animal's health in this weather, obviously. Also, no access to water...how could there be in freezing temps? Seems that a lot of neighbors either think this is just dandy or are too scared to take action...our houses and yards are cheek to jowl so there is no way it can be hidden...people have to know but for whatever reason are turning a blind eye. Well, there's a new sheriff in town...one who is not embarrassed to call 911, 311, animal control, humane officers or anyone else who may assist me in saving a dog's life. I am observant, persistent and don't give a crap what people think of me...a lethal combo for your friendly neighborhood animal abusers. If you are too weak to take a stand call me and I'll shamelessly make that phone call to a humane officer for you. Respect, Peetie Partridge
Also, remember we are keeping the Animal Rescue League open all night tonight and tomorrow night too. The police are aware of this and actually just dropped one off to us, at 1:34am. This weather is too cold and ANY pet outside right now has an owner who is in violation of the PA Animal Cruelty Statute because there is NO way they have water or could maintain healthy body temps. Please call Animal Control during the day and 911 after 11pm. This is our 5th one today, 4 were brought in after seizure by police and Animal Control. Thanks for sending out your email Ms. Partridge and reminding folks to bring pets in!! Stay warm neighbors!!
