Here's the full background of the Neighborway to the best of my understanding: People were running stop signs and causing T-bone collisions at some intersections along N. Euclid. DOMI was looking for ways to reduce accidents at those intersections. They were also looking for ways to safely connect neighborhoods for pedestrians and cyclists. They identified N. Euclid as a good option for a neighborway because the circles will reduce accidents at the problem intersections, and the *series *of traffic circles makes the entire corridor from Highland Park to East Liberty a safer route for pedestrians and cyclists. During the pilot they realized that some people weren't slowing sufficiently at the circles so the stop signs were installed as a way to reinforce the need to slow down. The intention is to eventually replace the stop signs with yield signs again. Other changes from the original plans resulting from the pilot include the elimination of the circle at Stanton; changes in signage; restrictions on the size of plantings that will be allowed; and changes in circle diameter. In the initial meeting, it was stated that these circles were being piloted. Since they returned the intersection of Callowhill and N. Hello Neighbors,

I wanted to respond to a question someone posted about the plants at the traffic circles. They were provided by the Department of Infrastructure and Mobility (DOMI) and maintained by neighborhood volunteers. Several weeks ago when the plants had clearly passed their peak, we asked DOMI to remove them which they did at all but one location. I'm not sure how they missed it, but I let them know about it today and they said they'd send someone to remove the pots ASAP. I also asked for an update on the project itself and was told that construction was supposed to begin any time now, but construction crews are heavily booked and they are waiting to finish the Reynolds St and Bloomfield Friendship Neighborways first. They said they hope that the weather holds out and the traffic circles can be installed in the next few weeks. My contact also said that they'd let me know when they have further updates (which I'll share) and apologized for the delays "as COVID and overall city need has impacted the construction season much more than anyone would like."
