[Highland Park] Join the Circle of Faith JUNE 9
FYI HP neighbors -- this exciting event is happening in our park Sunday, June 9. Peace, Julie PITTSBURGH FAITH COMMUNITIES UNITE INTERFAITH AFFIRMATION OF INCLUSION You are invited to this public witness of welcome and inclusion for LGBTQIA persons, their families and allies by varied faith communities. For all who believe God's love is inclusive and that all are welcome into the "family circle" that their faith communities offer. Schedule Circle of Faith is a one-hour event. Welcome and Information table will be directly in front on the east side (to the right) of the fountain when you enter Highland Park. Danielle Graham from Judah Fellowship will provide sign language interpretation for the hearing-impaired. Everyone is welcome! You may gather with religious community groups in the area near the marked canopy where the brief program will occur. 2:00 pm Gathering and Welcome – Rev. Shanea Leonard, JUDAH Fellowship Christian Church 2:05 pm Words from Michael Bartley, WQED, about his faith journey. 2:10 pm Cantor Michal Gray-Schaffer, Congregation B'nai Abraham in Butler, will sing a "nigun" - a wordless song in the Jewish tradition intended to lead the soul to God. 2:15 pm Groups climb stairs and around the reservoir to form the Circle of Faith a journey of welcome and inclusion. Members of the Renaissance City Choirs will greet all as the Circle completes its journey. The walk is approximately one mile around the reservoir. Accessible entrance to the walk will be provided. If you cannot walk the distance, come for the program which is all at ground level. One water fountain is available along the reservoir route so you may want to bring water with you. See the map at the information table for location of fountain and toilettes. Circle of Faith also includes: City of Pittsburgh LBGT Advisory Council, Delta Foundation, Dignity, Integrity, Garden of Peace, Persad Center, and the chaplaincy of Pittsburgh Veterans Administration Healthcare System. Directions & Parking Follow North Highland Ave to its end. Parking is available on streets and in the small parking areas around the reservoir. Volunteers will assist with traffic flow, parking and street crossings and City Police will be present to promote safety. Enter park through the pillars. Accessible parking will be reserved immediately to the right once you've passed through the pillars. Accessible entrance on the northwest side of the reservoir will be noted onsite.
